IMG_4253 Sarah Mei, hidden behind a group of students
Sarah Mei, the leader of RailsBridge workshops, half-hidden behind a group of eager students who all surrounded her during the lunch break. Left: a RailsBridge student Rachel.
Just like in the movies a split second makes a difference between the hero saving the world and letting a disaster happen, so a few seconds of WiFi connectivity can make a difference between a productive workshop and a wasted one. How can that be? Read about it in my blog post about the RailsBridge workshop.
It also talks about a creative (though not necessarily efficient) way to divide people into study groups when you can't rely on beginner-intermediate-advanced categories. Those categories can mean vastly different things to different people, so there are better sorting game (such as the one employed at this workshop) to both serves to break the ice and to sort people themselves into groups. Better yet, it's introvert-friendly!
